What is Moonstone?
There are several varieties of moonstone. I love moonstones for their shine and iridescence. I usually stick to rainbow moonstones, but they also naturally occur in peach, brown, green, grey, and white. They are a member of the Feldspar family, which also includes labradorite (another one of my favorites) and sanidine.
Love Opals?
Same. Opals are a super soft gemstone and come in many different varieties (ranging in color, flash, and price). This little opal necklace was a custom Christmas gift. Let me know what you're looking for, and I can help you make it a reality. Opals are a challenge to work with because of how soft they are, but they are worth it! So pretty!
Mixing Metals?
Yes, I am in to it! It's a personal preference, but I would say anything goes. For a long time, it was "stick to one," but I think gold, silver, brass, and bronze all look great together. I love gold, but it is hitting record highs right now price-wise. Brass is a great alternative for a golden look at a fraction of the price. It does require more polishing, but it doesn't look bad a little tarnished in my opinion either!
Why go with Moissanite?
Moissanite is almost as hard as a diamond, and it lasts forever just like a diamond (no cloudiness...ever). Moissanites can be found in nature, but the big ones used for jewelry are all manmade--meaning they are easier to find ethically. They are completely detached from the diamond industrial complex, which also means they are less expensive. Oh! And they have a higher refractive index than diamonds--so so so sparkly!
